After her husband is killed in a drug deal gone awry, this small town
waitress leaves middle America to head for LA, where she hopes to find her
favorite daytime soap opera character, whom she thinks she was once engaged
to. This past relationship, of course, exists only in her head.
Renée Z. acted very well in this movie. Her overly nice & kindly character, full of innocence & zeal heads to LA to meet her dreamy Soap Opera doctor. What she doesn't realize is that the murderers of her husband are hot on her trail suspecting that she carefully plotted to steal their loot, which is coincidentally stashed in the trunk of her car. After settling in LA, she eventually finds the doctor and continues to play out past soap opera episodes as if she actually lived them. Confused, the doctor assumes she's always 'acting' to land a role in the soap opera. Eventually, he manages to get her on the show only to find out that she had no such intent.
